Church Main Aisle Renovation.
When it comes to the custom fabrication world, it is extremely important to have the ability to work with a wide range of materials. Stainless steel, aluminum, the list goes on! Having had the opportunity to work with businesses and organizations in a number of various industries, we've witnessed this first-hand on many occasions. One project where this versatility came into play was in regards to some renovations at St. Patrick's Parish in Kansas City. This project took place in late-2022 and into early-2023.
There were two primary components to this project: waterjet cutting accent pieces out of ceramic floor tile for the center aisle and the construction of a new baptismal font. On this page, we'll highlight the different stages for the tile cutting and final installation. If you're interested in learning more about what went into the baptismal font fabrication, feel free to click the button below. Thank you to everyone that helped out with this amazing project right here in Kansas City!
Tile Accent Pieces.
We'll start this project case study with the exquisite accent pieces that would be incorporated into the center aisle renovation at St. Patrick's. In order to prevent any flaking or chipping along the way, our team utilized the five-axis waterjet to cut the tile. Furthermore, we made sure to allow for a consistent 3/16" grout line for the tile installers as well! As is the case with every single project we work on, precision is always a quality we emphasize!
Each of the accent pieces would be cut on 1/4" thick tile. In order to effectively highlight these objects, it was also important to use contrasting colors to differentiate them from the rest of the tile in the center aisle.
For the project as a whole, our team was tasked with supplying the tile cut-outs for five locations. In the center aisle, there would be (4) accent pieces - the dove (featured above), a cross, a chalice, and the name of the church and founding year. The final area entailed the tile that would be incorporated into the completed baptismal font.
Pictured below are the various tile cut-outs while they were still at our shop.
